Step into the world of Japanese culture with a fun and creative afternoon for the whole family! Try hands-on activities like origami (paper folding), ayatori (string games), and writing your name in Japanese. You can also enjoy Japanese storytelling and coloring beautiful Japanese patterns. We will hold two special workshops to make wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) and learn how to draw in a manga workshop too! We hope you take home your creations and new discoveries about Japan! Workshops are first come, first served; registration will open when the event starts.

Event Timetable
14:00–16:00 Japan Culture Family Day (general activities: origami, ayatori, calligraphy, name writing)
Wagashi Workshop (Japanese sweets): 14:15-15:00
Age 8+
Learn about the history of wagashi, its connection to tea culture, and create two types of nerikiri with our special guest, Yuko Åkerlind. The workshops will be held in English.
Manga Workshop (Japanese comics): 15:10-15:50
Age 8+
Discover the world of manga! Learn about its history and draw your own self-portrait in manga style. The workshops will be held in English.
Japanese folklore Storytelling in English: 14:30–14:50
Japanese folklore Storytelling in Swedish: 15:00–15:20
Workshops have limited space, and registration will be on-site. Please sign up on the list available at the entrance when the event opens. Participants must be present when the workshop begins.
